Reasons you should do yoga during a divorce
Molly Blue Wilder · 4 min read
Yoga is a popular practice that became mainstream for a practical reason: it connects attention, breath, and a body that has been bracing. Divorce is a long brace.
You do not need a studio membership or a new identity. Twenty minutes on the floor, with a free video and the door closed, changes the day more reliably than another late-night search.
People going through divorce often stop sleeping, stop eating regular meals, or start using a drink as the only off-switch. A body practice is a third option — not instead of friends or therapy, beside them.
If yoga is not your pace, walk until your thoughts get slightly more boring. The point is repetition and a kind tone, not flexibility. See also: building healthier habits, and alternatives to using alcohol as the coping plan.
