What to do with wedding photos after divorce
Dorena Kohrs · 4 min read
“What should I do with my wedding photos?” lands in a more complicated room than people expect. The pictures are evidence, memory, family history for children, and sometimes a bruise.
You do not have to decide this month. Put physical albums in a box labeled with a date you will reopen them — six months is plenty. Digital folders can move to a drive you do not scroll past every morning.
If you have children, consider a small set of photos that show them their own beginning, stored where you choose when they ask, not on the fridge as a test. You are allowed to keep joy from a day and still be glad the marriage ended.
Some people edit. Some people give an album to a parent who wants it. Some people keep one frame and release the rest. None of those is the morally correct choice. The only rushed choice is the one you make to prove something.
